BRITTLE NAILS OR RIDGED NAILS

BRITTLE NAILS OR RIDGED NAILS

20th Apr 2024

Most likely cause is High Estrogen

Explanation:

Back in the day, when you went to the doctor for an ailment of some kind, whether it be a cold, sore throat, achy joints etc., they would ask to see your tongue and look at your fingernails. The reason for that is your tongue and your nails speak volumes of the state of your health. Doctors back then understood the human body and the external correlation to health. Today? I doubt any of you have had a conventional doctor ask you to stick out your tongue and analyze the cracks, color etc., and examine your fingernail beds.

I will do a Two-Part article explaining some signs and tips on what to look for.

Part 1 – Fingernail Beds

This symptom could be related to a thyroid imbalance since nails are made from collagen. Thyroid issues may occur from either a gallbladder problem (lack of bile) or high estrogen levels. The liver/gallbladder helps convert T4 to T3 (the active form of thyroid hormone). High estrogen also inhibits thyroid function. Trace minerals can also be deficient in the diet and contribute to brittle nails or ridged nails. Trace minerals help protein (collagen) form in the body. This can also affect the hair and skin. Plant-based trace minerals are the best nutrients to improve our nails, as compared to just taking protein or collagen supplements. Diet:

If the thyroid is involved, then it must be determined whether the issue is gallbladder-related (usually the symptoms are bloating and constipation) or if it's high estrogen that is causing the nail issues (symptoms are having heavy periods, fibroids or weight gain in hips).

Also, add sea kelp since iodine supports the thyroid and sea kelp contains selenium, another important trace mineral for the thyroid.

If there are no thyroid issues, then take trace minerals.
